Days Off

Are grand. And now I have two, today and tomorrow.

I'll be back Monday. Maybe before then, but definitely Monday. We'll celebrate the coming Red Sox sweep of the Tigers. Right? The Sox will sweep the Tigers, won't they?

During last night's car crash of a ballgame, complete with kamikaze base-runner, I recalled more that Bill Lee quote regarding managers. More specifically about there being no need for a manager - that Casey Stengel's ashes on a bat rack would do just as well.

Right now I'd happily trade Tito for a bag of rocks on a bat rack; never mind the trouble of finding (stealing?) the dusty remains of some famous baseball guy. The bag of rocks would make better decisions. Technically the bag of rocks wouldn't be capable of making decisions, which at this point I feel is preferable to Tito's weird moves.

Go Sox. Sweep the Tigers.

UPDATE:

Sorry to pop back in, I just forgot to mention this before.

I think Dale Sveum is mentally retarded. Sending Roberts home (with no outs and your team down by one) was an incredibly stupid play. Being oblivious to the fact that Baldelli led the majors last year in assists adds insult to injury. Saying you'd do the same thing again is criminal. And Tito 'supporting' his guy makes me want to pull my hair out.
