Millar Time
Plenty of folks have weighed in and excoriated Kevin Millar for his selfish and idiotic comments to the press. I will add nothing further, save to leave you with this little tidbits:
Kevin Millar should give Brian Daubach a call next time he wants to have a Howard Dean-like meltdown about lack of playing time. Millar is on pace for 550 at-bats, 16 homers and 64 RBI. From 1999-2002, Daubach averaged 432 at-bats, 21 homers and 75 RBI. Daubach, who is also a superior defensive first baseman to Millar, hasn’t seen regular playing time since ‘02 and this past Friday night, was on an 11-hour bus ride to Ottawa with the PawSox. Millar should consider himself lucky to even be on the Red Sox roster, especially considering Daubach’s unexplainable plight. And you know, there isn’t a manager in baseball that could’ve been more loyal to Millar this season than Francona.
We're not gonna get rid of anybody. We're gonna stick together, just like it used to be. When you side with a man, you stay with him. And if you can't do that, you're like some animal, you're finished. We're finished. All of us.
