Rebel Rebel

Hanging Tree

So I bought me a new camera, to replace my ancient Powershot gone MIA, which happens to be much more camera than I've ever owned before - namely a Cannon SLR, a Rebel to be exact. I bought it slighty used, from the good folks at Bromfield Camera who really should be taking care of your photography needs, digital or otherwise, if you're in the Boston area.

On the minus side is the fact that the camera can do more than I am currently capable of wringing from it. On the plus side is that I tend to operate on the notion that if you're going to buy any kind of gear, buy the good shite, take care of it and make it last. My last, very primitive, camers was in service for five-odd years. I figure I can get ten outta thos one, and along the way learn to how to best utilize all it's capable of.

Anyhoo, I took some snaps at World's End today just by way of acquainting myself with the new bit. This was one of the few worth keeping.

Call Me Crank

On occasion it is necessary, if not downright pleasing, to assume another identity in the course of executing one's business. The Bunny has been known to make use of the nom de guerre Rooster Cogburn for restaurant reservations and the like, and it is an open secret that I attended, indeed participated in, the Bunny's recent nuptials under the alias of Todd Romero. Some other personas I have adopted - or may adopt - as the situation dictates include:

Monsieur SquigglyMan
SubCommander Zeep
Karl Roktober
Brigadier General Lurid-Bigguns
One-Eyed Johnny Kildare
The Old Gaffle
Lefty

Pleasure to Burn

The posting may be sporadic, but the reading continues. Always, because that is what I do. Although perhaps it is more accurate to say that is who I am, especially given that a lack of reading on any given day tends to make me cranky.

39. The Soldier's Tale - Samuel Hyne
40. The Candlemass Road - George MacDonald Fraser
41. Elizabeth & Mary - Jane Dunn
42. Quicksilver - Neal Stephenson
43. Feeding the Monster - Seth Mnookin
44. Old Man's War - John Scalzi
45. The Confident Hope of a Miracle - Neil Hansen
46. The Confusion - Neal Stephenson
47. Flesh and Gold - Phyllis Gotlieb
48. The Last Quarry - Max Allan Collins
49. The Dark Tower - Stephen King
50. The Guns of Heaven - Pete Hamill
